Plasma Display Panels

Plasma display panel (PDP) technology is based on the glow discharge that occurs when ionized gas undergoes recombination. Electrons are removed from atoms to produce ions, later recombining with the ions to release energy in the form of light.

• Many Asian firms are investing in PDPs for television applications because PDPs are similar to CRTs in brightness and color and can be scaled up to sizes that are appropriate for multiple viewers in either business or home environments.
